Please read our disclaimer prior to viewing this page! This week, we went on vacation to Limburg. We had rented a bungalow in a woody area. Iago, Zazu & Flit all went with us, last year only Zazu joined us. Also, my sister's lovebird Sammie joined us this time! Below you can see the bungalow & my mom. You can also see Zazu preening himself on his T-stand and if you look very good you can also see Sammie's cage and Iago & Flit's cage behind my mom..
Below you can see a photo of Iago & Flit's travel cage and Zazu's wingabago travel cage. He usually stays there as it's a wonderful cage for Houdini birds.. There's no way Zazu can break out of this cage. Note that Zazu was spending most of the time on his T-stand.
On the next photo, Iago seems to be interested in what's in that cup. We had used a small jug for the snacks as there weren't nice bowls in our bungalow.
Sammie seems to be interested in my mother's glass of wine. He didn't drink any of it though. Flit is backing up Iago for an attack on the snack jug!
I decided that it was time to get those fids their own food. On the photo below you can see them eating from a pile of Harrison pellets. Sammie is grabbing a big pellet for himself.
Those two little lovebirds just loved running around on the table. They seem to be heading for the beer on the photo below.. :) (Ofcourse they didn't get anything!)
On the photo below, Flit is playing for nuthatch. But this time, the nuthatch is using the wall to stick to!
There also lived a lizard under the treshold.. I had never seen a lizard in the Netherlands. Well, in ZOOs but never in the wild. I don't know what kind of lizard it was, if you do know this, please send me an email..
The surroundings of the bungalow also was the residence of this squirrel. Again, I had never seen them in the Netherlands else than in ZOOs..
In the evening, we went to explore the surroundings. All the fids joined us, and Iago decided he wanted to explore the surroundings while laying on a forearm.
As we came back, my sister decided she wanted to work some on her laptop: Accompanied by Sammie..
After that, Sammie decided he wanted to play some on the games computer of my brother-in-law. Well, he wanted to help him, but all he did was messing the game up!
On the photo below you get an impression of what the bungalow looked like at night. We had lit the fireplace and Zazu seems to be quite comfortable with that: He's preening himself!
The next day, we went to do some groceries. Zazu wanted to use the small pushcart, but lots of groceries had to be done so..
We took the large pushcart.. :) Zazu was allowed to sit on the handle which gave him an excellent view of the groceries.. :)
After doing groceries, it was time to eat.. Also for Iago, Flit & Sammie. They had great fun on the table. On the photo below you can see Sammie on top of the bread.. :)
Iago got some boiled egg, and Flit seemed to be very interested in Iago's snack!
That day, we went to Maastricht.. We took Zazu with us, and he loved this city. We sat down at an outdoor café and Zazu got a macadamia while we ate our lunches.. :)
Next, we went to the Onze Lieve Vrouwe basilica. I took this photo but it didn't isn't very good.. It is taken with my cell phone..
The next day, we decided to go for a walk in the surroundings. The natural environment was said to be very beautiful so we thought a walk would be nice. Zazu was allowed to come, as his wingabago is too small to stay in all day.. We couldn't help ourselves when we saw this on the playground.. He he he!
Zazu seems to think of robbing the sweet machine on the photo below.. :)
As we talked to the man at the Tourist Information Office, Zazu also listened carefully instructions the man gave. He didn't want to get lost in the woods!
On the next photo you can see my sister & dad discussing how to walk. Zazu thinks it's boring: If you had listened to that man, you would be knowing how to walk, he seems to think!
Some photos I took during our walk..
I didn't want hold this photo back for you. I thought it looked very surrealistic with those white dead trees in front of an (almost) clear blue sky.. A bit Dali-like!
Another photo..
And another..
We saw this small bird, it was said to be a willow warbler by people we met on our walk.
And the last photo of the surroundings..
Well, almost! I also wanted to show this photo of a beautiful butterfly!
On friday, we went to play midget golf. On the photo below you can see Iago, Zazu, Flit & Sammie sitting on the T-stand while watching how my dad fails to put the ball in the hole! He he he!
Then it was my sister's turn. The three musketeers (Iago, Zazu & Flit) didn't believe she was any better than my father.. :) Yet, Sammie is cheery: His mommy can do anything!
Sam continues cheering for his mom while sitting on my brother-in-law's arm. Iago & Flit aren't too sure of it, and move to another golf course. They don't trust her swings!
After a lot of swings, my sister still hasn't hit the ball in the hole.. Sammie decides he goes to help his mommy a bit. (Can you see him hanging on her arm?)
Iago hides as it's my mom's turn.. He he he!
Zazu decides he is outta here! He doesn't trust us playing midget golf!
He decides to sit on a chair that is Zazu worthy. These photos show some kind of large royal throne with a crown on top. It was placed on the midget golf terrain and I thought it suited Zazu perfectly as he always has a huge attitude!
On the next photo, Zazu is looking at the crown on top of the throne. Would that crown fit on my head, he seems to be wondering..
