Pellets, why?

On this page I will discuss what my parrots find in their bowls. Use your own imagination to create a wonderful, variety meal for your own parrot! Please use as many unsprayed veggies and other unsprayed food as possible. All those chemicals can't be good for your parrot.
Also lots of pellet brands contain poisonous ingredients to give these pellets a nice color, taste or to prolong shelf life.
Please contact me and I'll refer you to the article dealing with these pellets and their ingredients.

Natural parrot food with vegetable, nut, seed & grain..     Natural parrot food with fruit, vegetable, nut, seed & grain

In the morning & afternoon my parrots are fed natural parrot food. (With vegetable, nut, seed & grain or with fruit, vegetable, nut, seed & grain) I usually sprinkle some pellets on top of it.
I also serve Harrison Juvenile as a treat. I take one teaspoon for two birds (Senegal parrot & leadbeaters cockatoo) and add water so that the whole thing becomes nice and sticky, like shown on the picture beneath:

I roll small balls of it, and feed it to my fids while they are warm. There are a lot of vitamins in this tiny ball and my parrots just LOVE it! Picture of my Senegal parrot enjoying his healthy treat:

My sister's lovebird, who is EXTREMELY picky and ate nothing else than her normal food during her stay with me, just LOVED the Juvenile. She refused to eat her normal food when she returned to my sister. :-)

The picture above shows the six flavors of beak appétit, which my fids can also find in their bowls as a variety. I haven't tried all the flavors yet.. But they LOVE the Calypso Spice and didn't like the Cheese teaser. (Of which I thought they would just love because they would do anything for a cube of cheese)

A yummy bean treat with many kind of beans, peas, rice and much more!     A dehydrated mix of carrots, peas, red and green peppers and much more!

The combination will vary from day to day: Sometimes I just give natural parrot food, sometimes I just give them the veggie mix. I soak the four of these foods in hot boiled water and serve it while still warm.
It's not necessary with the natural parrot food, but in this way my birds will accept it the best.
I also feed fresh food and the variety of it varies from time to time. It just depends on what I am eating that day.. Or what's in the stores those days.

These are dry sprouts. I sprout this organic sprout mix and my fids love it! It's very healthy for your parrot!

About twice a week my parrots will be served some organic sprouts. They are little vitamin bombs and very healthy for your parrot. Zazu likes it more when I just give him the sprouts one by one between my finger. He'll eat more of it this way. If your parrot won't eat the sprouts at first, please try to be creative and feed it in different ways.
Also don't give up after your parrot has refused to eat those sprouts for the first time. Be persistent and keep offering sprouts or any other food that isn't accepted at first.

Different kind of nuts: walnuts, almonds, macadamia, cashew, brazil pistachio nuts

In the afternoon my parrots get a nut treat. I have different kind of nuts, so it varies from day to day. Sometimes I don't feed them a nut treat at all. In this way it'll stay a surprise what to find in the bowls. Usually I don't even give the nuts in a bowl. I put these nuts in this cage treat maze. Zazu is quite quick to get that nut outta there!

In the evening my parrots will usually find pellets (Harrison's high potency) in their bowls. Sometimes something else that is healthy but I usually cling on to this habit.

Harrison's high potency coarse pellets!
